Powerhouse at Lots Road commences sales

October 10, 2022

After nearly 20 years of planning, design, restoration and construction, 260 homes with two blocks on site dedicated to social housing for locals and 61 affordable homes inside the original Lots Road Power Station go on sale.

The former power station, is one of the largest new residential developments on the north bank to create homes, shops, restaurants, two public squares and three new bridges across Chelsea Creek. The turbine hall has been turned into a spectacular atrium, the largest to grace a residential building anywhere in Europe.

Since 2007 Aworth have worked and assisted with all the site’s various proposals, providing topographical, measured building surveys and hydrographical survey on the project

Aworth Survey Consultants undertook the measured building survey of Lots Road Power Station, providing detailed measured building survey drawings of the 7400m² (per floor) power station, set over 3 levels and over 40m high. This has been our largest single building surveyed to date!

The £1bn Hutchinson Whampoa Properties scheme is designed by Sir Terry Farrell, with Formation Architects transforming the iconic LUL power station.

Built in 1905 the historic Lots Road Power Station in Chelsea supplied power to London Underground up to 2001. Originally coal fired it used 700 tonnes of coal a day supplied to its own dock in Chelsea Creek off the Thames.
