One Crown Place receives a commendation in the Structural Steel Design Awards

Aworth are delighted to see One Crown Place has received a commendation in the Structural Steel Design Awards.

The Judges’ commented: “Two 28 floor concrete-framed residential towers are, remarkably, supported on a steel-framed office block. A two-storey transfer structure of 15 steel trusses transfers the dense residential column loads over the largely column-free workspace floors below. This compact zone also imparts a bold theme to the interior architecture of amenity areas, and of the first of the residential levels.”

Aworth were responsible for the precise setting-out of the complicated gridlines for the building.

Accurate setting out is a critical and fundamental part of the construction works. Any errors can be very expensive and time consuming to correct.

Aworth Survey Consultants has been involved with the prestigious scheme from the pre-planning stage in 2006, and through to completion, having provided a wide range of surveying services in collaboration with the project team; Architects Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), Development & Project Managers CBRE, principal construction contractor (One Crown Place) Mace and principal contractor (Sun Street Hotel) Hatmet Ltd.

One Crown Place is an exciting mixed-use development, combining old and new to form a dynamic city block. It comprises apartments in two new towers, office space, retail space, boutique hotel, clubhouse and restaurant.
